Description
Keep ‘Em Guessing.
You’re not one to follow the norm but you’re also not one to buck the ship… Too much anyway.
At face value, the Carmine may look a little wild but, with the right accessories and confidence, it becomes an elegant yet wildly unique piece that will thrill your friends and confuse your naysayer. With a deep blended crimson/purple tone, this piece provides an exciting colour base to play with without overdoing it with overdone patterns or textures. The flat finish allows you to show your own personality by bringing your own accessories, styles and confidence. Carmine is not for everyone, but for those that it is for, it’s a showstopper.
Styling Guide
Shirt
A little bit of colour science goes a long way to making this work. If you want to keep it simple, a basic white shirt works really well with this ensemble however, with the right tie, a powder blue or pink can also work. Our general advice is to keep the shirt pretty clean and let the colour do the talking for you. There’s no need to overdo it.
Tie
There are two strategies that we like here at Suitably with the Carmine: Adjacent and Monochromatic. Adjacent simply means that you use a colour that is related to your suit in relation to the colour wheel. As an example, Alexander wears the RUST skinny necktie which aligns perfectly with that notion. Monochromatic simply means matching your tie as best as possible to the colour of the suit. It doesn’t have to be an exact match but something similar with give you a cleaner, more formal uniform look. Again, keep it simple unless you really want to get the crowd talking.
Shoes
Dark browns work well with the Carmine however, black shoes may be an option depending on your accessories but may come off as stark compared in contrast. Consider oxblood and burgundy if you would like to compliment the warmer tones.
OCCASION
The Carmine is what you make of it. Great for parties and special events but also versatile enough that you can dress it up for weddings if your dare to be different. Looks great in a tuxedo configuration with a black satin lapel and accents.
